Unity Chapter #35 mourns the passing of Sister Patricia Gail desChamps

The Death of Patricia desChamps occurred on Nov. 20, 2024 with the comfort of the MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) program. A long time resident of Fredericton, Patricia believed strongly in the Fredericton community. She championed everything the city had to offer including the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, local art galleries and music venues. In her home she hosted Drag Storytime, music concerts and book readings. She was a patron of the Fredericton Playhouse and devoted member of the Raging Grannies,Fredericton Gaggle for 30 years. Sister Patricia was a noted CFA Persian and Himalayan cat breeder and volunteered with CARMA. She was Past President of the Epsilon Y’s Menettes and along with them was awarded the YMCA International Peace Medallion. She was Maritime Regional Director of Y’s Menettes. She was treasurer of New Brunswick Crime Stoppers for five years and a board member of Capital Region Crime Stoppers for many years. She chaired the Municipal Advisory Committee for Persons with a Disability for eight years.
Siste r Patricia was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star at Unity Chapter No.35 on Oct. 20th, 1977.
She leaves her brothers Ken desChamps of Peterborough, and Robert desChamps of Kitchener, and sisters-in-law Karin desChamps, Wendy desChamps, and Diane Stiles all of Ontario. She leaves behind many friends. Patricia requested no funeral. Monetary gifts in remembrance to the Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton (tuff.ca) would be appreciated.
