Winston Churchill #19 & F.H.Tingley #5 mourn the passing of Sis. Susan McDougal

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan MacDougall who passed away peacefully on Aug.17th, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Moncton City Hospital after a brief illness.

Susan was born on Dec. 23rd, 1948, in Moncton, one of 8 children of Russell and Merle MacDougall (nee Hopper). She was pre-deceased by her parents, In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law Verna Lefurgey.

She is survived by her loving companion Arthur Colpitts, her only child Sandra Swetnam (Michael), her Grand Children Richard and Rebeckah (Adam) and her Great Grand Children, Cohen and Rylynn. She is also survived by her 7 siblings: Faye Oakley (late Ronald Oakley), Stephen MacDougall (Pat) Tom MacDougall (Florine), Ann Chapman (Steven), Eric MacDougall (Ann), Michael MacDougall (Sandy), Ruth Ross (late Warren Ross) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Susan was a wonderful mother, sister, and friend. She was the heart of her family and the glue that kept them all together. She loved her grandchildren and was thrilled when her great grandchildren came along.

She really enjoyed golf and was a member of the Hillsborough Golf Club for many years. She enjoyed many winters in Florida where she spent time with her other retired siblings and her cousin Fraser. She worked the majority of her life in customer service retiring from the Cooks corner store in Hillsborough where she had a friendly smile for all.

Sister Susan was a dual member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed her years of service with both F.H. Tingley Chapter #5 (initiated June 8th,1981) and affiliated with Winston Churchill Winston Chapter #19.

The family would like to thank the wonderful physicians, nurses and staff at the Moncton hospital. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton, NB E1E 3V9 (506) 436-1194. There will be a Celebration of Life Service there on Sat. Aug.24th, 2024, from 1:00pm-3:00pm. An online guestbook may be signed at www.fairhavenmemorial.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
