Fidelity Chapter #36 mourns the passing of Sister Jean Dutcher

Jean Marie (Letcher) Dutcher Tucker

. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Marie (Letcher) Dutcher Tucker, who departed this life peacefully on June 28, 2024, at the age of 94 to begin her heavenly journey. A resident of Woodstock, NB, Jean was born on December 29, 1929, in Northport, NS, to Mary and Clair Letcher, and spent her life touching the hearts of many through her dedication to teaching and her selfless, giving nature.
. Jean earned her Bachelor of Arts degree while continuing her lifelong career in education. Her intelligence and passion for learning were evident in the countless lives she influenced as an elementary school teacher, mother, and grandmother (Nana). She was not only a beacon of knowledge but also a role model, embodying independence, style, and grace.
. Family was at the heart of everything Jean did. Jean had a deep faith in God and trusted Him to guide her through her life’s journey as a dedicated member of Mount Royal United Church, UCW (United Church Women), church craft group and Fidelity Chapter #36, Order of the Eastern Star (including as Past Worthy Matron). She was a wonderful cook, known for her amazing hospitality, making everyone feel welcome and cherished in her home. Her love for music, playing cards and engaging in crafts brought joy to family gatherings, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her easy-going nature and boundless enthusiasm made her the family's biggest cheerleader, always encouraging and supporting her loved ones.
. An avid shopper with a keen sense of style, Jean had an eye for beauty in everything she did. Her love for travelling kept her spirit adventurous and young, as she explored new places and made lifelong friends. Despite her many interests, her dedication to staying active and her strong, kind soul were constants that defined her character.
. Jean was known for being up for anything, embracing life’s opportunities with a huge smile and positive energy. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert Austin Dutcher, her parents as well as her 4 siblings, Bill, Charles, Betty, and Clair. She is survived by, only daughter Elizabeth (Dutcher) MacDougall and two sons Stephen (Lisa) Dutcher and John (Heather) Dutcher, and 10 Grandchildren: Kyla, Meghan and Lauren MacDougall, Shane (Pine), Andrew (Felicia), Jonathan (Laura), Jeremy Dutcher and Colin (Victoria), Megan and Lauren Dutcher, as well as 6 great grandchildren Sadie, Dahlia, Aurora, Gwyneth, Nolan and Isla who will miss her dearly and will carry her spirit and values forward. Jean also loved and cherished her chosen Dutcher family, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at a later date in Moncton, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Royal United Church, a testament to her giving nature. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB. There will be no Visitation or Funeral Service at this time.
