Sister E. Jean Duncan, Past Grand Matron passed away on April 4, 2024. She is survived by her son, Johnathon (Tanya) and grandson Nicholas. Jeanie grew up on Deer Island. Following her desire to help others - children always held a special place for her - she moved to Fredericton to attend Teachers College. Over the years, Jeanie earned several other degrees from UNB in Fredericton. Her 35-year career in primary education culminated as principal of two Fredericton area elementary schools. Upon retiring, Jeanie was able to indulge another love: travel. Many new places were enjoyed with the company of family and friends, but she was always happy to come home.
She was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star 40 years ago at Celestial Chapter No. 3 in Fredericton, NB. She served as Worthy Matron 9 times and held various offices in her chapter. She was a Grand Representative of Delaware (1992), Grand Martha in 1991, DDGM in 2007, and served as our Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of New Brunswick at her Celestial Blessings Session in 2012-2013 along with her Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Donald Williams. A visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. A memorial service to celebrate Jeanie's life will take place at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 16, 2024, starting with an Eastern Star tribute at 1:00 pm. Interment at the Mount Hope Cemetery on Deer Island will be Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm for the family.
Still we have so many memories, of the ones we loved so much.
Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part,
God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts.
