Zetland Chapter # 26 mourns the loss of Sis. Patricia (Pat) Bendall


Patricia “Pat” Bendell, 99, of The Briarlea in Moncton, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at her residence. Born in Poole, England, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Jeffery) Gray.

Pat grew up on a dairy farm and went on to become a nurse, serving in Portsmouth General during World War II. During the war she met and married a Canadian soldier, Percy, and immigrated to Canada as a war bride. She has lived in four provinces: Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. She was a lifelong expert knitter who could turn out anything practically with her eyes closed. She was a highly active member of The Order of Eastern Star holding several offices in that organization.

She will be sorely missed by her three children: Naomi Bendell, John (Paulette) Bendell and Robin (Sherry) Bendell; five grandchildren: Christopher (Janet) Gill, Todd Gill, Odessa (Tyler) Zinck, Lindsay (Neil) Sorenson and Emilee Bendell; three great-grandchildren: Jackson Zinck, Jenna Lee Zinck and Marcus Sorenson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Percy Bendell; three brothers: Anthony Gray, Norman Gray and Eric Gray; a daughter-in-law, Janet Lee (Robin) Bendell; a granddaughter, Carrie Gill.

At her request there will be no visitation and a private service (family only) will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Dalhousie Memorial Garden at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lower Sackville, NS, with her husband.

In memory of Pat, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
