Obituary for Vera Swazey

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Vera Swazey of Fredericton, NB at Pine Grove Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Born in West Saint John, NB, on July 19, 1923 she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn Warnock and wife of the late Herbert Swazey.

She is survived by son, Ian; daughter–in–law, Barbara; granddaughter, Jillian and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, Herbert; sons, Terry and Allison and brothers, Percy, Rupert and John.

Vera graduated from Saint John High School, McGill University and Royal Victoria Hospital (Dietetics Internship). She was employed several years at Lancaster D.V.A. Hospital and also at Victoria Public Hospital and Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for 25 years. In 1988 she retired after many years as Director of Clinical Dietetics. She was a Chartered and Honorary member of N.B. Association of Dieticians; a Past President of Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Retirees Association; Past Matron of Celestial Chapter of O.E.S.; former member of Fredericton Curling Club, Capital Winter Club, Gilridge Golf Club, YMCA & IODE and a member of the ACW at Christ Church (Parish) Church.The family would like to thank all of the staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home for their kindness and care showed to Vera over the last two years.

Visitation will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 7 to 9 pm. The Celestial Chapter #3 of O. E. S. will hold a tribute Monday evening at 6:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The Ven. Wandlyn Snelgrove will officiate. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery at a later date.
