Eastern Star mourns the loss of Sis. Helena McKinnon

Obituary for Helena McKinnon

The death of Helena Grace (Campbell) McKinnon of the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home and formerly of Upper Derby widow of Bruce McKinnon, occurred at the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in South Cains River Road, NB, Helena was the daughter of the late James and Willahmina (Jardine) Campbell.

Helena was a Graduate from Teachers College and taught until she became a fulltime homemaker. Helena was a Charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star – St. Andrew’s Chapter and a member of the Derby United Church UCW and Derby Senior Citizen Group.

Helena is survived by two daughters: Nancy Walls (Donald) of Miramichi, NB, Lori Ann Burns (Paul) of Moncton, NB; two sons: Robert (Carol) of Port Dover, ON and Harvey (Nancy) of Winnipeg, MB; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.

Helena was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Helena is predeceased by one sister: Christina Fisher.

Visitation was held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Service was held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 1 PM with Wendall Gregan officiating. Lightning of the Memorial Candle: William Burns. Music was by organist Jacqueline Allain. Solos: “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, The Old Rugged Cross” and “Peace is Flowing like a River” and a solo by Sandy Sutherland “How Great Thou Art”. Scripture Reading by Emily Rogers. Words of Remembrance by Robert McKinnon and Sonya Martin. Active Pallbearers were: Marc Steeves, Matthew Rogers, Mark Bertrand, Shawn McKinnon, Gregory Burns and William Burns. Burial will follow in the Derby United Church Cemetery, Millerton, NB.

In Helena’s memory a donation may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
