Grand Chapter of NB mourns the passing of Sister Leitha Holmes, PGM 2002-2003

HOLMES, Leitha -- Leitha (Murchison) Holmes, age 83, of Four Falls, NB, wife of Joseph Holmes, passed away at Hotel-Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Born in 1934 in Four Falls, NB, daughter of the late Wilmot Earl and Mary Olive (Hartt) Murchison.
Leitha is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joseph, her children, Joseph Jr. (Kym) Holmes of Edmonton, AB, David (Marilyn) Holmes of Maplehurst, NB, Richard (Michele) Holmes of Kelowna, BC, Peter (Susan) Holmes of Edmonton, AB, Paul Holmes of Moncton, NB, Anna Marie Holmes of Four Falls, NB, Margaret Ann Holmes of Saint John, NB and Danny (Amanda) Holmes of Moncton, NB, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brothers Preston (Marie May) Murchison of Grand Falls, NB and Earlen (Shirley) Murchison of Ancaster, ON, sister Lillian (Ron [who always called her his second Mum]) Michaud of Bathurst, NB, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her much loved 4 legged baby Princess.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Sheldon, Delbert, Merrold, Beacher and Adrian Murchison, Emma Holmes, Edith and Etta Murchison, daughters-in-law, Dianne Holmes and Marlene Holmes.
After graduating from Aroostook High School, Leitha married the man of her dreams and started an amazing journey lasting 64 years. Along with raising their children, Leitha persued a career in nursing working for a time at Hotel Dieu Hospital and then moving on to Victoria Glen Manor where she worked for many years. After retirement Leitha became a member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of Electra Chapter # 9 several times. She was also the Worthy Grand Matron for the province of NB from 2002-2003. Presently a member of Victoria Chapter # 1. She often spoke of her star trails and the many friends she made along the way. Throughout her life she stayed true to her faith, prayer being a constant in her daily life. When saying her prayers she spoke each name individually, our phone would often ring and someone would ask if she could add them to her prayer list, a testament to not only who we her family knew her to be but as others saw her as well. She truly has left a great legacy to her family.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be an Eastern Star Service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15th at 2 p.m. from Trinity Anglican Church, Perth-Andover with Father Stephen Harnish officiating.
