Unity Chapter # 35 mourns the loss of Sis Sgt. Hannah "Ann" (Lawton) MacLean

Having lived 93 long and happy years, Sgt Hannah ‘Ann’ (Lawton) MacLean passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017, at the Veteran’s Health Unit. Born in Perth-Andover on May 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Edith (Jones) Lawton and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Ann was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces. She severed overseas for three years during WWII with her brothers, Alfred, Rupert and George Lawton.

She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9 in St. Stephen.

Mom had a great sense of fun and adventure. She loved taking trips with Dad. Many memories were made on their trips to Arizona and Florida where they spent several winters.

Mom loved her camp on Harvey Lake and her flowers. She led a unique and inspiring life.

Ann leaves behind her loving husband, of 65 years, Milton MacLean; daughters, Kim Corey (Mark) and Kathy MacLean; grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Piercy and Jill Corey; as well as several nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, Ann is predeceased by siblings, Ethel, Violet, Edith, Lillian, Billy, Alfred, Rupert and George; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Blake and Delphine, John and Janice and Sydney MacLean.

Our family offers sincere thanks for the wonderful care given to Mom by the caring staff of the Veterans Health Unit. You are our miracle angels.

In keeping of Ann’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey NB, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 3:30 pm with Rev. Anne Boudreau officiating. For those who wish, memorial donations to Harvey Veterans Crosses and Flags would be greatly appreciated.
