St. Stephen #8 is saddened by the loss of Sister Velma Mitchell

St Stephen Chapter # 8 was saddened by the passing of Sister Velma Mitchell on September 30, 2015. Sis Velma was initiated June 19, 1950. She was Worthy Matron in 1961-1962 and served as Secretary of our chapter from 1984- 2006.
She was the daughter of the late James and Annie (Fraser) Jackson. She attended Business School and worked many years for N.B. Power before retiring in the early 1980's. She was a member of Kirk McKoll United Church, UCW and remained very active until her health started to fail. She loved sewing, quilting and doing crafts and along with her husband Lloyd belonged to the Campers Association and enjoyed many years camping and visiting relatives in Ontario.
Besides her parents and husband Lloyd she was predeceased by her brother Ellery Jackson and sister Ethel Linton. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
An Eastern Star Memorial service was held October 2nd and her funeral was on October 3rd from Mehan's Funeral Home, St Stephen, NB. Interment took place at St Stephen Cemetery.
