Eastern Star mourns the death of Sister Rose Colwell

Sister Rose Colwell, 75 of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Dec. 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John May 18th, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Mary McTague and Theodore Morrison.
Rose worked for Stats Canada and sold Real Estate. Former member of the late Regina Chapter in Petitcodiac. A member of the Cornhill Women’s Institute, Board Member of School District 16, Fraud Squad, Saint John; Board Member of Figure Skating Club, Sussex; NB Fiddlers Association and Old Time Fiddler Orchestra. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, wintering in Florida, baking, cooking and spending time with family and friends. . Rose was a caring and devoted Wife, Mother and Grammy ; welcomed everyone; and gave great big hugs and was one of the best cooks around. She loved her children and grandchildren and always loved telling people of their achievements and how proud she was of them. The perfect birthday cakes were made with love up until her final days.
Rose is survived by her husband of 55 years Walter E. “Sonny” Colwell, Sr. of Saint John; children Walter K. Colwell (Judy O’Neill), Wendy Quigg (Brian) both of Saint John and Robbie Colwell (Kari-Ann Hallett) of Fredericton; cherished grandchildren Nikki Colwell, Brandon Colwell, Mitch Quigg and Riley Quigg; sister Dyan Ball (Johnny); nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents; Rose was predeceased by Margaret Ward “Mom Ward” who was much like a mother; siblings Larry “Major” Ward, Murray Ward, Don Ward and Laura “Peggy” Campbell.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Celebration of Rose’s Life was held at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Dec.r 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
